Applications will be available in January, 2025 and will remain open until March 30, 2025.  The final round of auditions will be in person by invitation on april 19, 2025.

Video Submissions

Video submissions are required when submitting applications. You must submit a video link via YouTube or Vimeo featuring two different selections in the application. Otherwise, your application will not be considered for the second round of auditions. Questions regarding applications may be directed to Dr. Lisa Vickers, BFHSVS Manager, at HSVoice@HGO.org.

Additionally, applicants must secure two (2) recommendations letters to complete their application. One (1) must be from your high school choral or music teacher, or equivalent who can describe your musical, vocal and performance experience as well as your personal motivation. One (1) must be from another professional who can describe your work or study ethic, ability to get along with others, and level of focus/personal motivation. Recommendations from family relatives (even if they are the primary teacher or employer) are not appropriate. If a family relative is the primary music teacher, please provide a recommendation from another professional musician or music teacher. All recommendation letters must be submitted electronically. Appropriate Repertoire To Use For Your Audition

Appropriate Repertoire to Use for Your Audition. Students should consult with their current private voice teacher or choir director when selecting their music. Suitable repertoire can be found on the University Scholastic League’s (UIL) prescribed music list at:  http://wwwdev.uiltexas.org/pml/.

In addition, musical theater pieces written in the golden-age style (before 1970), or solo versions of spirituals or religious hymns may be appropriate for singers who have not studied privately. All pieces should be accompanied by piano and performed from memory.

To attend a BFHSVS masterclass, please register by 12 PM on the Thursday before the class. We WILL NOT admit community members who do not register before the deadline.
